Four communities in BC are set to benefit from just under 20 million dollars in joint funding for water and wastewater infrastructure.
As part of the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the 19.2 million in funding is a joint effort between BC and Ottawa.
A wastewater lagoon which serves the Nak’azdli Whut’en will be replaced by a new treatment system, improving operations and protecting area salmon.
In the Village of Lumby, funding will go towards a new, modern treatment facility, as well as rehabing an existing lagoon system.
Funding will also go to the Comox Valley Regional District and the District of Columbia-Shuswap to eliminate seasonal advisories, and improve infrastructure.
Some of the projects require additional contributions from the party being funded.
