Williams Lake City Council is no closer to determining the future of Kinsmen Park, despite a lengthy debate.
Earlier this year, the City brought forward the possibility of purchasing a portion of the parkland which formerly housed the Poplar Glade School.
The purchase would allow them to combine the land with the already City owned portion to build much-needed housing on the site.
But public consultations with neighbouring residents brought forward little support for the idea.
72 percent of those who responded to a survey put out by the City were opposed to getting rid of the park.
Last night, Council had a lengthy debate about the future of the land, but ultimately decided to send city staff back to the drawing board.
Staff were asked to bring back a report on the possible project, its design, timeline, and development.
