A massive fire at a Quesnel logging yard, initially spotted on Tuesday, is now under control.
Fire crews from Quesnel, Bouchie Lake, Barlow, and Kersley all tended to the fire, which they say will take several days to fully extinguish.
Employees at West Fraser’s WestPine Logging Yard initially reported the blaze at around 2:00 in the afternoon, and it quickly grew to dangerous sizes.
But, according to crews on site, at no point was the mill itself at risk of catching fire, and sprinker systems activated only as a precaution.
Operations at the mill were never delayed as a result of the fire.
While the blaze is still technically burning, crews say that it is now under control, and should pose no more threat to residents.
