Multiple strike vote meetings are going to be held both this week and next week in Williams Lake and Quesnel by the union that represents over 500 mine workers at Taseko Mine Limited’s mine in Gibraltar.
According to Unifor Local 3018 president Curtis Finley, back in September and earlier this month the union showed a brand new contract to their members and it got a very negative response.
Finley also mentioned that Unifor is willing to have a meeting with the company in order to find a solution to the issue that doesn’t involve a labour dispute.
Sean Magee, the vice-president of corporate affairs for Taseko, stated that the company is committed to making sure that this new deal will get done and he also said he was confident that this deal will end up being fair for both parties.
President Finley said that these meetings will go until next week and after those are done, he’ll be able to comment on what’s going to happen next.
