Recommendations made in a recent independent review have prompted the province to create a new group focused on Indigenous health.
That review, titled In Plain Sight, looks in to systemic racism against Indigenous Peoples with regards to health care access.
Data collected by Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond found that Indigenous people have a harder time accessing health care, but also see lower quality treatment.
The recommendation to create the team was among 24 made in the review to help tackle the issue.
Known as the In Plain Sight Task Team, the team will include: Métis Nation Minister of Mental Health Dr Kate Elliot, First Nations’ Health Authority CEO Richard Jock, and associate deputy Minister of Indigenous Health for the Province, Dawn Thomas.
Indigenous guides Bryce Mercredi and Roberta Price will round out the panel.
