One BC First Nation is tired of empty apologies from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
The Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Nation has been the target of numerous apologies from the PM over the past week.
Trudeau ignored two separate invitations to speak with the Nation on their territory on the first ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This is despite the new holiday being prompted by the discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves on their territory.
Now, the Nation says they are tired of words, and want the PM to apologize through his actions.
They say that real action to support healing, culture, language revitalization, and more is needed.
The Nation’s leadership says they are not interested in further apologies without tangible change.
