British Columbia’s efforts to vaccinate their population remains unmatched, despite the recent Covid surge in the North, says Premier John Horgan.
Despite his strong words, Horgan remained steadfast in his refusal to issue mandatory provincial vaccine mandates in schools.
Horgan says that, despite being the funder for schools and their employees, they are not the employers, and therefore it is not his decision to make.
That task falls to the individual School Boards themselves, rather than the province.
According to Horgan, the differing situations in many communities mean that the Board’s will need to decide how to handle each jurisdiction on their own.
He did, however, go on to say that the province would make all the necessary resources available for trustees to make up their minds.
