Rio Tinto Workers Vote in Favour of New Collective Labour Agreement

An agreement in principle is now a full agreement, and with that Rio Tinto employees will soon return to work.

Last month, news broke of a Collective Labour Agreement being made through Rio Tinto and BC Works.

Now, that agreement, which covers the Kitimat Smelter and Kemano Hydropower Facility, has been ratified.

Unifor Local 2301 members voted in favour of the Agreement today, ending a lengthy strike and dispute.

Management will now get to work planning and initiating a return to work process, and a progressive restart of the smelter.
