Yesterday, Quesnel’s City Council was given an update to let them know that the Quesnel interconnector project is moving down the city’s priority scale.
The City’s manager, Byron Johnson, reportedly got a letter from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to let him know that they focusing on completing recovery work in the Cariboo region over the interconnector project.
Quesnel’s Mayor Bob Simpson gave a statement saying that the ministry’s budget for tasks in the region already has a lot of strain on it because of road construction and that the city is going to sending out a letter asking for the ministry to split the funds for the interconnector project from the regional budget.
Simpson also made sure to add that the project’s preliminary work has already been approved to go ahead, but the project is still going to require $1.5 million worth of engineering work to actually go through with it.
