The BC government has decided to give out more support to the Northwest region’s more vulnerable residents by getting a $45,000 grant in order to make a new situation table in the Hazelton area.
A situation table is a group of front line workers from multiple different occupations such as health care, social services and even public safety agencies that look around for people at risk of being victims of criminal events or potentially committing a criminal offense and getting them the help they need before something bad happens.
Since the start of 2017, the Solicitor General’s Office of Crime Reduction and Gang outreach, along with the Ministry of Public Safety have shelled out over a Million dollars to set up new situation tables or even enhance already existing ones in BC with cities like Terrace, Smithers and Kitimat all getting funds at some point.
