A new NorthPac Forestry project looks to repurpose approximately 42 thousand pulp logs in BC.
Funded via a 484 thousand dollar grant from the Forestry Enhancement Society of BC, the project aims to reduce emissions and costs from burning pulp logs.
Rather than burning the logs, they will instead be sent to Kitimat from the Hazelton and Kispiox area to be used in the making of pulp and paper products.
The project aims to lower operational costs, and burning of pulp waste, which is a contributor to rising levels of multiple greenhouse gases.
