The Province of BC is looking to get some input from the public on their recent plans to both shape and update the province’s anti-racism data legislation.
The Attorney General’s Ministry sent out a statement stating that public engagement is going to be running online until November 30th and it’s purpose is to inform the government on how they can collect data in a way that will reflect both the needs and experiences of all people of color.
Rachna Singh, the parliamentary secretary for these anti-racism initiatives, stated during the announcement that the goal of this legislation is to take down the barriers that impede the people trying to get access to government services.
Singh is also planning on having meetings with multiple groups, including those that have received discrimination for reasons other than color, like gender, faith and sexual orientation, in order to get more targeted information this fall.
