The city of Williams Lake has gone out it’s way to ask for a speed review of the Toop road intersection that got reconstructed back in 2019.
This request for a review, along with the city’s concerns about the intersection, were sent out in a letter back on July 22nd from Williams Lake’s mayor Walt Cobb to the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Rob Fleming.
Mayor Cobb stated that there is an issue at the moment with transport trucks on Highway 97 that use their Jake breaks in order to slow down when the speed limits get reduced from 90 KM an hour to 60 in the city. The issue in question is that the trucks aren’t given enough warning to slow down as they get near the intersection.
Cobb also said that another part of the concern is that the city has been getting reports of these trucks needing to honk loudly as they run through red lights.
