The hosts of a frat party from the University of BC got hit with a $5,000 fine over the weekend after the Police had to respond to a big gathering of students, where no one was wearing masks or physically distancing.
The University’s RCMP sent out a statement saying that they received a lot of calls that reported the party was taking place at Wesbrook Mall back on August 29th.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found hundreds of students that had gathered both in the courtyard and in multiple homes, which was breaking the rules since BC indoor gatherings are currently limited to 50 people.
This party got advertised on social media platforms, and even had a video of it posted on Snapchat.
The UBC is one of the four major campuses in BC that is having all their students declare their COVID-19 vaccination status before the fall semester confidentially, or they will have to take regular and rapid COVID tests.
