As of tomorrow, the Flat Lake Wildfire is likely to no longer be considered a fire of note.
This move is coming as the fire, which is currently estimated to cover 74,194 hectares, was officially listed as under control back on Friday.
The BC wildfire service made it known in their latest update that no one had seen any growth in the fire for the past few days and that an infrared scan was done up to 50 feet on the northern perimeter of the wildfire to identify where the hottest areas of the fire were.
The update also mentioned that firefighters will then use direct methods to attack and hopefully extinguish these extra hot areas.
Mop-up operations are continuing along the edge of the fire at Dog Creek Road and the 1100 road as well as on the northern part of the fire’s perimeter, and at the northeast corner of the blaze by Valentine Lake.
All of the evacuation orders and alerts that were put in place because of this wildfire have been rescinded as well.
