The Cariboo Fire centre has been made aware that some people are concerned that they are lifting the area’s campfire ban too soon.
The CRC let it be known back on Wednesday that the campfire ban would lifted as of noon today and this news received a lot of criticism from residents on the centre’s Facebook page.
In response, the Centre made sure to note that any active wildfires in the area are currently classified as “held” or “under control” and that the area is experiencing significantly reduced fire activity.
The Centre also added that resources from other regions of the province are helping with fire suppression efforts that allow the local firefighters to be available in case a fire in the area breaks out. Not to mention that with the current weather conditions, new fires are not expected to be breaking out in bunches for the next couple of weeks.
