Some carpentry students from the Thompson Rivers university in Williams Lake are doing their part to preserve a piece of history.
The city’s first ever fire truck from 1947 will now be residing in a building alongside the city’s fire hall that these students will making thanks to a partnership between Williams Lake and TRU Williams Lake campus.
The city’s Fire chief Trevor Schick will help oversee the project, He stated that he is pretty excited to have the truck at fire hall. The truck, which was restored by the fire department, is currently still on display at the old fire hall, now known as the Central Cariboo Arts Centre.
Schick also made sure to note that the joint project was only possible because of the city and TRU partnership along with community sponsors.
