In a press release sent out yesterday, Skeena Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach was revealed to have sent out a letter to Rio Tinto that urged the company to resume their negotiations with Unifor 2301 in order to bring the strike to an end.
Bachrach mentioned many items in his letter such as the legacy of trust and respect between workers and the ownership that many different workers have mentioned to him.
He also made sure to note that he is in support of what the union is trying to achieve, and that he is also fond of the idea of the smelter meeting its production needs using unionized employees as opposed to contract workers. Bachrach also hopes that action will be taken to solve the multitude of grievances from employees.
