The Orange Shirt Society has sent out a call for both volunteers and donations as they are planning an event for the inaugural National Day for Truth & Reconciliation on September 30th in Williams Lake.
This event is going to be held at the Williams Lake Stampede grounds and it shall be open to the public. The Society has also described their call for volunteers and donations as urgent.
Their call also mentioned that the efforts of the community to both plan and stage this gathering will include putting together a traditional blessing, commemoration and ceremony as well. This Indigenous led event is aiming to provide the chance to bring some healing for Indigenous people in an atmosphere of care, compassion and love.
