Taylor Bachrach, a Skeena-Bulkley MP with the Ministry of Transportation stated back on July 31st that tugboat and worker safety, as well as concerns surrounding the raising of the sunken tug, the Ingenika, were items that he recently addressed.
Bachrach, who has a position on the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Communities committee said that he asked Deputy Minister of Transportation, Michael Keenan about what was needed in order to raise the Ingenika so that it could aid the police’s investigation and hopefully provide answers to the families of Captain Troy Pearson and mariner Charley Cragg, who lost their lives when the tug sank while pulling a barge in the Gardner Canal back on February 11th.
Pearson’s widow has been calling for the tug to be raised and she created a petition addressed to the Canadian Coast and RCMP that currently has more than 11,000 signatures.
