The B-C Wildfire Service says the weather is going to shift over the coming days to bring some rain for firefighting crews but also the risk of lightning.
Spokesman Rob Schweitzer says scorching temperatures that have kept wildfire danger ratings at extreme are also expected to cool next week.
Schweitzer says while the heat will continue through tomorrow, winds that will clear wildfire smoke in the Interior are expected this weekend.
He says the number of active fires in B-C has fallen over the past week to 245, including 36 of concern.
