Highway 20 has been closed in both directions because of a forest fire between the Rainbow Range Trailhead and Elsey Road for 32.6 km, and it’s between 38 to six km west of Anahim Lake. DriveBC noted that the road is closed and that there is no detour available.
The fire in question that is responsible for the closure is the Hotnarko Creek fire, which is considered a wildfire of note.
This fire has grown to around 1,100 hectares since it was initially discovered on July 3.
The BC Wildfire Service’s latest update from yesterday morning (July 13) also noted there was increased activity experienced on the site of this wildfire on Monday.
