Jarret Quock of the Tahltan Nation was awarded the Outstanding Individual Leadership Award
Jarret Quock was a huge part of designing the Tahltan First Nation’s first ever environmental guardian program back in 2016.
And to Recognize his environmental contributions, Quock was awarded the Outstanding Individual Leadership Award on June 3rd by the Indigenous Leadership Initiative, a national organization aiming to create indigenous governance.
Quock accepted the award from his home in Dease Lake, two days before he had to take a long journey from his northwestern community all the way to Vancouver for a medical appointment.
While he accepted the award, Quock thanked his fellow Tahltan guardians for not only walking with him across the land of their territory but also standing by him while he had to battle against stage four lung cancer in 2019.
