The Government of British Columbia will be enlisting outside help to advise on B.C.’s long-term economic plan to help steer the province through the post-pandemic era. Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation says BC has weathered the storm better than most jurisdictions, thanks to our strong economic foundation, but there is more work to be done.
The minister announced today that outside help would be coming from Mariana Mazzucato from the University College London who will assist the government as it develops a plan to build a sustainable, inclusive and innovative economy.
According to Mazzucato, Governments have a pro active role to play in shaping markets, not just fixing market failures. Minister Kahlon also said collaboration will include input from British Columbians as well. Kahlon will lead public and stakeholder engagement over the summer. The economic plan is expected to be released this fall.
