B.C. has unveiled its new reopening plan today. The plan is unveiled as Covid-19 case counts across B.C. are beginning to drop and 60 per cent of adults have received their first dose of the vaccine.
The restart plan will take place in four steps and we will not see a full reopening until after labour day. Measures such as mask wearing and physical distancing will remain in place. Progression through the steps will be measured by Covid-19 data as well as vaccine numbers across the province.
As of today households can now have a maximum of five people for indoor gatherings and 10 people for outdoor. Recreational travel will be allowed within your travel region. Indoor and outdoor dining will resume for up to six people. Outdoor sports will resume with no spectators as well as low-intensity fitness. We will also see the return of indoor in-person faith-based gatherings. Mask wearing and physical distancing will remain in place for these lifting of restrictions.
The next step we could see as early as June 15 which would see no B.C. travel restrictions and seeing bigger capacity for seated indoor gatherings. In this step spectators will also be allowed for outdoor sports with a maximum of 50.
The full restart plan can be found at the Government of B.C.’s website.
