The people of Fort St. James and the surrounding areas are a step closer to a modern hospital as new steps are taken for the new Stuart Lake hospital.
Northern Health requested and received proposals from three shortlisted proponents for this stage of the procurement process. Those teams were Clark Builders, Graham Design Builders LP and SBW Wright Construction JV. Graham Design Builders LP was selected.
A Design-Early Works agreement is a contractual agreement between the design building and Northern Health, which will get the design phase under. The next steps include issuing a draft design-build request for proposals and a draft of the design-build agreement.
The new hospital is expected to be three times larger in building size than the current facility and will include, 27 beds and 18 long-term care beds. There will also be an emergency department with two treatment rooms, a trauma bay and an ambulance bay. A laboratory and diagnostic imaging part of the new hospital
The project budget of $116 million is cost shared between the Province through Northern Health and the Stuart-Nechako Regional Hospital District.
