RCMP in Prince George spotted a stolen vehicle shortly after it had been reported stolen.
Just after 9 p.m. on March 11, a frontline member of the Prince George RCMP noticed a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle that had been reported stolen less than three hours prior. The report came in at 6:40 p.m., when a Nissan Pathfinder had been reported stolen. The owner stated they left the vehicle running with the keys in the car and entered their residence just long enough to take a jacket. In the moment that they were gone someone had entered the vehicle and stole it.
A short time later an officer who was on patrol saw the Pathfinder as it pulled out of a driveway. The frontline members then followed the vehicle until it stopped at a business on the 1700 block of Strathcona Ave.. The officer then pulled the vehicle over and advised the driver and passenger they were under arrest for possession of stolen property.
Police identified the driver as 40-year-old Gordon Laliberte and the passenger as 37-year-old Virginia Denning. The B.C. Prosection Service approved charges of, Possession of stolen property against Laliberte and Denning. The Prosecution service also approved one charge of Prohibited driving against Laliberte.
The pair were released until their next court appearance at the end of March.
