On Friday, December 11 RCMP responded to a report of a black Nissan Altima who fled from a Quesnel officer during a traffic stop. The suspect was located in a residential area in Williams Lake.
Officers set up tire deflation devices. During the initial deployment the vehicle accelerated toward an officer, who repositioned from harm’s way. However, the suspect vehicle did sustain a tire deflation and was followed to a second position where another tire deflation deployment occurred.
The suspect continued to flee after the tire deflation but was boxed in by police. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot before being arrested. The suspect remains in custody and was assessed for minor injuries, who appeared to be under the influence of controlled substances. It was determined the vehicle was not stolen but the driver, will be held in custody for offences of dangerous driving, assault with a weapon, flight from police, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
One officer is also being treated for minor injuries during this police incident.
