With a growing number of COVID-19 cases in Fort St. James, health officials have sent in reinforcements.
B.C. Emergency Health Services deployed its Major Incident Rapid Response team to the community of about 1500 as the COVID case count reached 60.
The team will support patients and paramedics, as well as clinical site support at the local hospital.
The Nak’azdli Whut’en First Nation has also announced a two-week shutdown in order to help get the situation under control.
In a post to its Facebook Page, the Nation says the healthcare system is “stretched to the max.”
