Northern Health has declared a Covid-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada Project Site in Kitimat.
The outbreak was declared after finding evidence of Covid-19 transmission among staff working at this location. To date, 14 employees have tested positive for COVID-19. All of these cases are considered to be associated with this outbreak and occurred in the same general work location.
Specific on-site employees are being screened. Contact management and contact tracing is ongoing. Those identified as cases and close contacts have been instructed to self-isolate. Thirty-two employees remain in self- isolation at the site, and the rest are isolating in their home community.
Northern Health is working with the BCCDC to ensure communication with the health authorities or jurisdictions of the affected employees home communities. The outbreak declaration will be in place for 28 days.
Why not let them isolate with the rest that are also isolating at the site? Not let them potentially expose others in their home community?!
