Anglers are once again able to head back to the Skeena River watershed to fish.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada has re-opened the recreational Coho and Pink salmon fishery.
However, fishing for Chum, Sockeye, and Chinook is still off limits for the entire Skeena River watershed.
DFO says the daily quota for Skeena Coho will be two, only one of which can exceed 50 cm.
The daily limit for Pinks in the Skeena River watershed is two.
DFO says four areas remain closed for all salmon fishing:
-the Skeena River mainstem waters near the Kitsumkalum River mouth, from the
confluence with the Zymagotitz River (also known as Zymacord River) upstream to
the Classified Waters boundary at the top of Hell’s Gate.
-the Kitsumkalum River, including lakes and tributaries.
-the Skeena River mainstem waters near the Kitwanga River mouth, from Mill Creek
upstream to the Highway 37 Bridge.
-the Skeena River mainstem waters within the three white triangular fishing
boundary signs located at the confluence of the Skeena River and Kispiox River.
