Today marks the fifth anniversary of the historice Tsilhqot’in decision which saw Aboriginal title and rights recognized in the Supreme Court for the first time.
That decision resulted in a declaration of Indigenous title covering roughly 17 hundred kms in the Cariboo-Chilcotin.
Many tireless years of work from the Tsilhqot’in and their allies ultimately led to an 8-0 Supreme Court ruling.
It’s a decision which ultimately established a legal definition for Aboriginal title.
