Homeowners in six northern BC communities will be able to better prepare their properties for wildfires thanks to the extensions of a government-funded program.
Sixteen individuals will work throughout the summer to help educate homeowners with free advice, and assist seniors and those with disabilities in protecting their properties.
Residents of Ashcroft, Cache Creek, 100 Mile House, Williams Lake, Clinton, and Quesnel will all benefit from the program.
Initially slated to end in April, the United Way supported program has been extended by four months to better meet community needs.
Through the program, residents will have free access to FireSmart advice and support.
In addition, team members will help less able residents by removing wildfire fuels and vegetation from their properties.
