Maureen Luggi has been elected as the newest Chief of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation.
It will be Luggi’s second stint as an elected chief after previously holding the position between 1987 and 2007.
In total, the new chief took home 55 of 107 votes cast to defeat incumbent Vivian Tom, who tied for the second most votes.
Alongside their new chief, Karen Ogen-Toews and Heather Nooski were also selected to councillor positions.
Their were a total of 183 members eligible to cast votes in the Burns Lake based election.
