BC’s Independant Investigations Office is looking in to a Monday morning incident involving RCMP in Fort St John.
At roughly 3:00 Monday morning, an officer was on patrol following reports of thefts from vehicles in the area.
While on patrol, he attempted to speak with an individual in the area who immediately began to flee on foot.
Following a brief chase involving a number of back-up officers, the man was coraled and arrested.
After his arrest, RCMP discovered the man had been injured and had him sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP have notified the IIO of the incident, and they have now launched an investigation in to whether the injuries are linked to police action or inaction.
