Repairs have been completed on a pipeline that supplies Terrace, Kitimat, and Prince Rupert with natural gas.
6 million dollars in repairs that began last fall have wrapped up on a Pacific Northern Gas pipeline near Copper River Road.
Heavy rains experienced during the fall of 2017 had left the pipeline exposed to the elements, and in need of relocation.
840 metres of pipeline have been moved away from the Copper River to an area that fits the 200 year floodplan elevation levels.
Originally, Pacific Northern Gas had estimated a 3 dollar per year rate increase to cover the costs, but use of insurance and recent rate decreases have eliminated the extra charge.
