Bruno Belanger
Bruno Belanger has lived in Terrace since he was a young child and has developed deep roots and strong relationships over his decades here. It was Bruno’s mom, Gemma, who first started Gemma’s Bed, Bath, Kitchen, Gifts & Souvenirs in 1979.
Bruno took over the business in 1981, and one of his first goals was to supply a better shopping experience and provide access to a wider variety of quality products to shoppers in Terrace. His business has grown steadily since then. He is proud of how he has built the business his mother founded and is particularly grateful to the locals who have made it a point to support the store over the decades.

Bruno has a passion for Terrace, its people, its economy and all of its enriching organizations and cultural activities. Bruno, who has served as the vice-president of Kermodei Tourism for the past 11 years, says “Terrace is the heartbeat of the north.” He notes that it is the perfect starting point for a huge variety of outdoor activities and adventures like fishing, boating, hiking, hunting, skiing and much more (like Bruno’s own favourite, motorbiking) and for visiting sites like the Nass Valley lava beds.
Being in such close proximity to Prince Rupert and Hyder, Alaska means that visitors can stay in Terrace and easily take a scenic day trip north. The First Nations culture and history add yet another layer of depth and richness to the area and is something Bruno is also proud of.
The Fudge
Bruno also points out that there is as much to do in town as around it. It is full of wonderful shops and restaurants, including some of his personal favourites like the Red Raven Art Gallery and Gifts, Don Diego’s Restaurant, Mumford’s Beerhouse and Grill and the George Little House. Terrace, says Bruno, “has many growth opportunities,” and he is excited to be a part of that growth going forward.
