While a slew of wildfires continue to rage in the Northeast, the Northwest is seeing relatively low activity for the time being.
Half of the province’s four active fires of note are burning in the Prince George Fire Centre, alongside 9 other out-of-control blazes.
A lightning-caused fire covering over 13,000 hectares west of Hudson’s Hope in Battleship Mountain, is the largest of those.
At the moment, that fire is prompting an evacuation order and two alerts in the area around Hudson’s Hope.
A second lightning-caused wildfire of note is burning at Bearhole Lake Park, southeast of Tumbler Ridge, and is covering 6,300 hectares.
Just one out of control wildfire is burning in the Northwest Fire Centre, covering 330 hectares between the Nechako Reservoir and Whitesail Lake.
