Prince George residents now have access to a drug checking machine, similar to the one installed in Terrace earlier in the summer.
Using infrared technology, the machine is capable of testing the contents and toxicity of a wide range of substances, including opioids, stimulants, and other phsychoactives such as MDMA.
Residents will be able to access the machine at the POUNDS Project facility on 1126 3rd Avenue, between 10:00 and 2:00 Wednesday to Saturday, and from 4:00 to 8:00 in the evening Tuesday to Sunday.
In Terrace, the machine can be accessed at the Northwest Intensive Case Management Team office at 4450 Greig Avenue.
With the help of trained staff, they can make use of the machine between 8:30 and 4:00 in the afternoon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
