After going missing more than 3 years ago, the BC Coroners Service says they have recovered the remains of Cindy Martin.
Martin was living in Hazelton at the time of her disappearance, having last been seen in New Hazelton on December 23rd of 2018.
Numerous searches had been conducted at that time, though none resulted in any leads.
But, on Tuesday family members say they received a call from the Coroners Service informing them that human remains discovered in May had been identified as that of Martin.
Throughout her life, Martin had been an advocate for Indigenous youth, working with young students in her role with the Vancouver School Board.
Later, after deciding to move back to Gitanmaax, she continued to advocate for and became a mentor to Indigenous women in the region.
