Temporary signal lights being added to Highway 97

In order to improve safety at the intersection of Highway 97 and Skaha Hills Drive/Sandhill Road, temporary signal lights have been put in place.

These signals are expected to remain in place as the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure continues to work with the Penticton Indian Band on a permanent upgrade to the intersection.

Prep work for a long term solution includes engineering, archeology, drainage studies with climate change criteria, environmental reviews and property impact considerations.

Some of this prep work has already begun.
