According to an announcement from earlier today, the Federal government and the Tseshaht First Nation have finally completed a settlement agreement regarding the Nation’s 1913 purported Surrender and Sale of Iwachis IR 3 Specific Claim.
In total, it was determined that $21 million would head the way of the nation which they have now received.
This claim, which was initially filed back on April 16th, 2016, was seeking to right a wrong from 1913, when Iwachis reserve land was allegedly surrendered and sold to the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway for the development of said railway.
With the Nation receiving their compensation, this claim has been completed and now they will look to determine the steps that should be taken next.
