A new license agreement will expand the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation’s exclusive harvesting rights over an additional 200,000 hectares of forests.
That license, the largest First Nations Woodland License to date, will expand the area covered by their N2E license from 11,000 hectares to just over 217,000 hectares.
Under the new license, the Nation’s annual allowable cut for the license will go from 25,000 cubic metres to over 380,000 cubic metres.
With its new boundaries, the license area will spread across both the north and south sides of the Highway 16 corridor, east of Prince George.
Their new license gives the Nation decision making authority over planning, developing, harvesting, and cultural use of timber within the area.
