A washout has claimed a section of Highway 97 southeast of Lower Post, along the Liard River, northwest of the hotsprings.
It is believed that a landslide north of Coal River on Friday night is to blame for the eventual washout.
There is currently no estimated time of re-opening available, but crews are on-site conducting repairs.
For the time being, traffic is single lane alternating and detours have been put in place at KM 900 for those leaving Watson Lake and heading south and at KM 897 for those heading north from Fort Nelson.
