Today marks the first anniversary of the release of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ National Action plan in Canada.
That plan shows the Federal Government the ways that they can stop the ongoing tragedy of Indigenous Peoples constantly being victims of violent crimes.
And in honor of this day, the Government of Canada put out a statement in order to reaffirm their commitment to addressing the violence Indigenous peoples continue to face regularly.
After taking part in a ceremony at the Canadian Museum of History to remember those lost to violence, the government also put out a report detailing the progress they’ve made over the past year on implementing parts of the action plan.
