Fresh provincial grant funding will look in to the elimination of financial barriers preventing access to menstrual products.
$750,000 in funding will go to United Way BC, to support the establishment of a task force supporting the province’s goal to end period poverty, and remove stigmas associated with menstruation.
A basic need for many residents, financial barriers often prevent access to necessary menstrual products.
One of the key goals of the task force will be to develop partnerships with governments, First Nations, businesses, and non-profits to help understand and look for solutions.
Portions of the funding will also allow for the continued delivery of free products to those who need them, with a goal of distributing 700,000 products by June 7th.
