Unusually large snowpacks across the province, combined with unseasonably cold temperatures, could point to significant flooding this Spring.
According to the River Forecast Centre, the size slow-melting snowpacks increased by 13 percent in April, and colder than usual temperatures have delayed the melt.
If temperatures were to rapidly rise, it could lead to the worst spring-time flooding in BC in more than 100 years.
A flood risk update is set to be publicly released by the Centre on May 20th.
