Approximately 94 percent of all regulated health care workers in BC are fully vaccinated, according to recently released data.
In March, a public health order was issued allowing the province to obtain information regarding the vaccination status of health care workers.
According to Dr Bonnie Henry, that data, which has now been released publicly, will help residents make informed decisions on receiving in-person care.
17 of the province’s 18 health colleges have reported data, with the college of nurses and midwives yet to report.
Of those, the colleges of dieticians, and of physicians and surgeons had the highest vaccination rate at 98 percent.
The lowest rates came from the colleges of naturopathic physicians at 69 percent, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, with 79 percent, and chiropractors at 78 percent.
Roughly 46 percent of all health care professionals are nurses, leading to the delay in data from that college, which will be available in the coming weeks.
