A BC group that is responsible for Indigenous service providers as well as Housing has called for the Federal Government to fund their latest Housing Strategy.
The main reason that this group, known as the Aboriginal Housing association, requested funding is because they believe that over the next decade, more than 20,000 units of Indigenous Housing are going to be needed.
Earlier in the year, the association released a report that described their strategy, which would reportedly both repair current housing and build new housing for Indigenous peoples in the province.
This plan will reportedly cost around $7.3 billion.
The group’s CEO stated that this plan will not only build housing, but it will make sure that every living space will contain culturally appropriate spaces for ceremony and have enough room for everyone living in those spaces.
