Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson has given some insight in to the on-going work around the Riverfront Trail.
Simpson says the recent removal of the “yellow dozer” landmark by the Jonhston Bridge was neccessary as part of their Waterfront Plan.
That plan will see the entire surrounding area converted in to an on-river RV Park and Campground during work this Spring and Summer.
Upgrades to lighting, the Front Street entrance to the walking bridge, benches, and signage are also on the way for the Fraser River portion of the trail.
Signage along the entire Trail is also set for a physical and social refresher, planned for this year.
In addition, the City is working with the Lhtako Dene First Nation to bring a major cultural project to the Fraser portion of the trail, and to bring ways to display their history to the Trail.
